Known as the largest urban plein air event in the nation, the Colorado Plein Air Arts Festival (CPA) kicks off in June and artists–professionals, amateurs, and youths from communities around Colorado–are invited by the GTMD to take part in this year’s festival. Artists will have access to locations across the state from June through September to create “en plein air” (in the open air) during special “paint out” events, as well as independently at their preferred locations. Scheduled “paint out” locations will include many historic museums, the Lariat Loop, as well as the Buffalo Overlook where artists will have the unique opportunity to paint live buffalo.
Artists working in all mediums are invited to participate. Following the festival, artists have the option of entering one or more pieces into the CPA’s juried competition under “Professional,” “Emerging,” or “Youth” categories. Accepted works will be exhibited to the public at the Denver Public Library, with award-winning works receiving a special showing at History Colorado’s Byers-Evans House Museum Gallery.
2014 artist registration will be posted by May 1, 2014
